Program Overview

Every manager needs to learn to translate strategic initiatives into an effective project plan for implementation. In this intensive thee-day program, you will develop a project, from compelling vision to executing the project with the focus on satisfied customers and profitable business, while developing motivated project teams. We will also look at how we leverage your business vision and strategy but influencing the system for prioritizing projects and managing resources. We will cover all nine areas of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), which is an internationally recognized standard. It also addresses the challenges of complex projects and geographically dispersed multi-cultural teams working across functional and geographical boundaries.

Leading Strategic Projects-Hong Kong also covers the eight steps of successful project management including creating a project vision, strategy and measurable objectives, as well as techniques for mastering scheduling including various tools that help you to succeed (Examples: PERT, critical path networks, Gantt charts) and the overall project plan. It builds acute attention to project deliverables and management skills to bring complex projects to successful completion. We will make use of project software in the program. Please note prior project management experience is not essential though helpful.

In short, the program addresses the entire spectrum of leading large projects from planning, through risk management project control, and close.

Who Should Attend Leading Strategic Projects-Hong Kong

This program is designed specifically for managers who are keen to acquire the necessary capability of leading complex projects, which is a core leadership competence. This will especially be helpful for those who need to create a high-performance environment in the absence of direct authority over global/regional project resources. Executives seeking to develop project leadership competencies and techniques to meet the challenges of leading in an international business environment with multinational customers, colleagues, and competitors will also benefit.

You will understand unique leadership requirements in cross-border business and why many projects go wrong, as well as to assess your strengths and weaknesses as a leader of cross-border projects.

Participants from previous sessions have developed projects to:

  • Launch new businesses;
  • Turnaround failed projects in product and service businesses;
  • Win new contracts through formation of cross-border teams;
  • Develop new projects in record time
