The University of Michigan's schools of Business and Medicine collaborate to offer this unique management program for healthcare leaders in six two-day modules that make it easier for clinicians and senior administrators to fit into busy work schedules.
Complete five of the six modules and receive the University of Michigan Certificate in Healthcare Management, or take only the modules that interest you most. |
DAY 1 lays the foundation for understanding the fundamental economic principles associated with clinical delivery, developing the underlying premise that health care is a high fixed cost industry. The basic elements of the management principles are explained, with a focus on the basics of cost accounting, operations management, and the impact that hospital contracting has on the institutional bottom line.
DAY 2 identifies core management issues facing healthcare providers. These include manpower shortages, the complexities associated with physician leadership, participation in strategic initiatives, and defining the "what's in it for me" elements of physician behavior. Specific issues in management and leadership relating to clinical delivery (ICU, ED, Operating Room Management) are developed. |
The program fee includes tuition, instructional materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks each day. Fee is payable in advance in US dollars and is subject to change. See our Cancellation, Transfer and Substitution Policy.
