Executive Education - Programs at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business

Advanced Negotiation Expertise
Developing High Quality Relationships and Maximizing Profits

General Overview

The difference between success and failure can be merely the difference between being an average negotiator and a great negotiator. To ensure profitability in a challenging global economy requires a negotiator to balance competitive and cooperative approaches in a dynamic environment embedded in social relationships. We are negotiating constantly and expert negotiators master the financial structure of the situation, have impeccable influence skills, and can authentically build long-term positive relationships across a variety of intra- and inter-organizational contexts.

Takeaways

Participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of the intricacies of negotiations and newly honed interpersonal skills to leverage these insights. This course focuses on both the art and science of negotiations. Participants will bring back to their organizations:

  • A strategic plan that can be immediately executed in their ongoing negotiations
  • Practical tools to creatively identify joint value creation opportunities that ensure high individual outcomes
  • A clear sense of how to develop negotiation talent and thrive as an organization

Note that this is an application program. Participants must have taken Michigan's Negotiation and Influence Skills program or an equivalent OR have significant senior level experience in negotiations.
