Laura Morgan Roberts





Laura Morgan Roberts, Ph.D. is an educator, researcher and organizational consultant who cultivates strength-based practices with current and aspiring leaders seeking extraordinary performance and personal fulfillment. A native of Gary, Indiana, Laura Morgan Roberts was a member of the inaugural class of the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities. She earned her BA in Psychology with highest distinction, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia. Laura then received her MA and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan.

Laura Morgan Roberts has been an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Harvard Business School since 2002. She is also a faculty affiliate of: the Center for Gender in Organizations at the Simmons School of Management in Boston, the Center for Positive Organizational Scholarship at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor, and The Partnership, Inc., a Boston-based non-profit organization that conducts research-based talent management and career development interventions for early, mid- and senior-level professionals of color.

Laura's research, teaching and consulting interests center on personal practices and organizational systems which promote authentic engagement and powerful connections in diverse workplaces. Specifically, Laura speaks to the role that leadership plays in creating work contexts where employees can maximally contribute from a position of strength. She also investigates how employees of diverse professional and cultural backgrounds leverage their strengths to generate extraordinary performance and personal fulfillment. Laura explores these dynamics in various contexts, including medicine, financial services, higher education and journalism.

Laura has published her work in top tier research journals and practice-oriented journals such as the Academy of Management Review and Harvard Business Review. Laura's work guides people in discovering the "Reflected Best-Self," crafting successful careers, developing extraordinary leaders, and learning about, from, and across dimensions of difference. In addition, Laura consults to individuals and organizations on professional image management, discovering and developing your strengths, and developing cultural competence.
